How to Update Your Domain's Nameservers

Nameservers tell the internet which service is authoritative for your domain's DNS — you'll typically change them when moving a site to a new host or CDN, or when pointing your domain at NameGrid's own DNS to manage records here instead.

Where to find it

Go to My domains, click into the domain you want to update, and scroll to the Nameservers section on that domain's page. You'll see the nameservers currently on file (or a suggested default pair if none are set yet).

Updating them

• Edit any nameserver field directly, or use Add nameserver to add more (up to 13) if your host needs more than two.
• Remove extra fields with the Remove button next to them if you only need two.
• Click Save nameservers once you're happy with the list — you'll need at least two.

Changes typically take effect within a few hours, though full propagation across the internet can take up to 24–48 hours in rare cases — this is standard for DNS anywhere, not specific to NameGrid.

If your domain is still pending fulfillment

Brand-new orders are registered with the registrar shortly after purchase. If you update nameservers before that step completes, NameGrid saves your requested nameservers and applies them as soon as the registration finishes — you don't need to come back and redo it.
